Dear Working Mom,

Why do I write to you?

When I was getting started in momland, I found lots of wonderful mom blogs. But there was a particular itch of mine that wasn’t getting scratched: I didn’t find a lot of “slice of life” blogs that showed me other moms who are also dedicated to their office jobs.

Being dedicated to family and an office job can involve a few special tricks, so I’d like to share mine with you! It also involves a few unique joys, and I’m here to share those too.

Here are some of the things that make my blog tick:

  • parent by focusing on habits that are most important to me and my partner, and letting the rest go. Fewer things, done consistently, are easier to maintain and more satisfying. For us, on the “basics” side, this means treating others well and expressing appreciation, taking care of our bodies, and learning to manage “the big three” (emotions, time, and money). On the fun side, this means reading, TV, hiking, baking, and LEGOs.
  • unapologetically nurture a career in a typical office environment.
  • expect that my husband takes an equal and active part in deciding how to run it, and following through with those decisions.

Enjoy!

Love,

Wendy

PS There’s a quote I love: “If others can hate you without knowing you, then I can love you without knowing you”. That’s why I write this blog: because I love you. You hold up a corner of the world. And I want you to have any support that I can give you, in the form of tips and/or encouragement.

PPS Reader– whether the phrase “working mom” speaks to you or not– I hope you know that I respect you and I love you. I call out to working mamas because I identify as one. But I don’t limit which mom blogs I read accordingly. To that end… please take a peek at some of favorite mom blogs. These are written by mamas who put aside careers, who paused careers, who work part-time, who work outside the home, and who work inside the home. I love to read the thoughts of other moms and see life through their lenses, and I hope you do too.
