Dear Working Mom,
Happy 2021!
Although I wouldn’t want to rewind and play 2020 again, I can’t deny that it was an important year.
And brighter days are ahead. May the painful parts of 2020 be healed, and the important truths that 2020 so bluntly showed me live on, albeit in a gentler and more hopeful way.
Here are my resolutions for 2021:
- Add a new tool for stress management. Work through a free online class in “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction” at https://palousemindfulness.com/index.html. I’m guessing it will take me more than the recommended 8 weeks, and that is okay!
- Carry the best lessons of 2020 into 2021 and beyond:
- social equality, public health, and stable democracy depend upon my participation. I have a role in all these things, both for my own participation and for showing my son how to participate. He learns from my example.
- It’s okay that I am a lot more introverted than I had realized. I am allowed to say “no thank you” to a whole lot of social things. It will be okay.
- Make at least 1 system around our house noticeably easier. Make all our recurring bills paperless and integrated into mint.com.
Phrased more simply, here they are again:
- Add a new tool for stress management.
- Carry the best lessons of 2020 into 2021 and beyond.
- Make at least 1 system around our house noticeably easier.
I wish all these things and more, for you too, my Dear Working Mom. Happy 2021!
All my best,
Wendy
